A country with deep roots, dating back 2,500 years, Iran is the modern home of the ancient Persian empire. Along with the descedents of Persia, other ethnic groups have made their home in the arid landlocked country. Kurds, Azerbaijani, and Afghani live alongside their Iranian neighbors blending a wealth of tradition and culture. 

Iran is governed with a mix of elements that echo parliamentary democracy and Islamic theocracy. President Hassan Rouhani is titled as the Head of State, but Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei is the Supreme Religious authority. In holdingthis title Ali Khamenei commands unquestionable power over Iranian policies that have isolated the nation on the world stage, both politically and economically. Iran’s rumored support of terrorism has further ostracized the country from the international community. Prayer is needed that the iron-grip of Islam is releasedand that this nation of over 79 million souls will be introduced to Christ’s love and forgiveness.
